That’s why I want to share two directories that I’ve been consistently impressed with — not just as a therapist, but as someone who wants clients to have a safe and supportive path to care.
Headway (for clients in the U.S.) and It’s Complicated (for clients in Europe) are platforms that make the process of finding therapy more straightforward, transparent, and trustworthy.
They’re easy to use. Both sites are beautifully designed and make it simple to search for therapists who fit your needs.
They put people first. Their updates and features are focused on improving access to care, not making things more confusing or complex than they need to be.
They maintain integrity. They balance supporting therapists while ensuring that clients can feel confident about the quality and safety of care.
Headway makes it easier to find a therapist who accepts your insurance. They take care of the overwhelming billing side so you don’t have to. For clients, this means fewer surprises, less paperwork, and more focus on actually getting support.
It’s Complicated is especially thoughtful in how it connects people with therapists across different countries and languages. They take extra care to make sure that therapists are qualified for the titles they use, so clients know they’re working with someone who has the training they say they do.
Therapy is already a vulnerable step. Having a directory that’s easy to navigate, transparent about qualifications, and respectful to both clients and therapists makes a real difference.
I don’t get anything from recommending It’s Complicated — it’s a subscription-based service for therapists. With Headway, there’s no cost to clients, and therapists get access to tools that make care more seamless.
For me, what stands out most is that both of these platforms feel ethical, supportive, and genuinely useful. That’s rare, and it’s why I wanted to share them with you.
